At the beginning of class, students wrote the "daily goal" into the warm-up sections of their binders.

Next, students participated in a "taxation without representation simulation" where groups of students, who represented colonists, were taxed by the British.

We then discussed the simulation and made connections to the taxation acts passed by the British in the second half of the 18th century.

I then gave a quick lecture on the colonist's reaction to taxation acts as students took notes on their note sheet (slides 7-9 of PowerPoint.  See yesterday's lesson for attachments.)

At the end of class I assigned a writing assignment about the phrase "taxation without representation is tyranny."  Students are required to explain the meaning of the phrase and explain why colonists believed this (see attachments.)
