Students began class by writing down the daily goal.
Next, students participated in a warm-up as I checked their homework. For the warm-up, I projected a number of bumper stickers on the overhead. Students had to decipher the stickers as best they could. We then discussed the meanings of the stickers.

Students had the rest of class to work on their bumper stickers.
As students worked I handed them the scoring rubric for their essay. There is a check-list on the back for revisions.
