Students began class today to responding to the following prompt: "What were some of the reasons people used to justify going to war."  As students answered this question I checked their homework.

Next we reviewed last night's homework.  Then, students shared their responses from the warm-up activity with their tables.  We then recorded the responses on the board.

I then posed the question "what are some reasons people might be opposed to going to war."  We had a class discussion and recorded the information on the board.

This led into the class activity we will work on for the next few days.  Students were given three handouts: the War of 1812 Activity lesson overview, the War of 1812 Activity Graphic Organizer, and the War of 1812 Primary Sources. 

Students read through the primary sources.  They needed to determine whether the person was pro or anti-war, and record their reasoning onto the graphic organizer.  We will finish the rest of the primary sources tomorrow in class.

Homework is to read through primary sources A,B, and C and record the information onto their graphic organizers.
