3/14/13

*Period 2 had a 20 minute class today due to the assembly and will have more homework to complete than the other classes.

At the beginning of class I gave students about 2 minutes to meet with their groups from yesterday to ensure they had all the needed information to participate in the activity today.

Next, I had students form groups which contained one person from each of the groups (a 1,2,3,4, and 5).  Students then went through the different cases of genocide and taught the other members in the group about their situation(s).

As students worked I checked their binders for a binder quiz.

Next, students partnered up and read through two articles, one that supports the idea of Native American genocide and one that refutes it.

Article supporting the idea of Native Genocide
Article refuting the idea of Native Genocide

Students read through the articles and recorded information onto the bottom of the organizers from yesterday's class.  They wrote down reasons that the Native American situation would or would not be considered genocide.

Homework for Monday is to finish reading both articles and completely fill-out the graphic organizer with as much information as possible.
