Today we started class by talking about the Exeter Compact (Combination). We reviewed the homework assignment from Friday which will be counted towards one of their binder quiz grades (#26).
Next, students took notes on the Rhode Island Colony, King Philip's War, and the Salem witch trials. There were two short videos embedded in the notes. See prior blog postings for notes.
I gave students a reading on the Salem witch trials at the end of class. I modeled for students how to find main ideas in each paragraph (main idea = topic + what's being said about it.)
For homework students first need to find the main ideas of each paragraph of the reading. Next, students need to take their main ideas and combine them to create a summary paragraph.
